In short: WebMCP collects no data. All communication happens locally on your machine. Nothing is sent to any remote server.
WebMCP is a Chrome extension that enables AI agents to interact with your browser using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It acts as a bridge between AI tools running on your computer and your browser tabs.
WebMCP does not collect, store, transmit, or share any user data.
All communication between the extension and the MCP server occurs exclusively over a local WebSocket connection on your machine (default: localhost:8080). No data ever leaves your computer.
localhost (your own machine)When the extension reads page content for AI agents, all password input fields are automatically masked as [filled]. The actual password value is never included in page data sent to the MCP server.
WebMCP requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely for browser automation:
WebMCP uses no third-party services. There are no analytics providers, ad networks, crash reporters, or external dependencies that receive user data.
Since no data is collected, there is no data retention. The only data stored locally in Chrome is your extension settings (toggle preferences), which you can clear at any time through Chrome's extension management page.
WebMCP does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The extension is a developer tool intended for use with AI automation workflows.
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page traffic. Cloudflare Web Analytics collects no personal data, uses no cookies, and does not track individual visitors. Only aggregated, anonymized page view counts and traffic source information are collected. No data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising. You do not need to consent to cookies to use this site.
Important distinction: This section refers only to the website you are reading now (webmcp.tanujmittal.com). The WebMCP Chrome extension and MCP server collect no analytics, telemetry, or usage data of any kind. All extension and server communication stays entirely on your machine.
If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Since WebMCP collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
If you have questions about this privacy policy or the WebMCP extension, please open an issue on our GitHub repository.
